FLESH COLOR ~ A NEW MIX

I recently tried an odd mix of colors to create a new flesh tone,  Liquitex Alizarin Crimson and Jo Sonja's Tree Frog Green!  You can use any dark crimson and spring green to achieve a vibrant flesh color.  It's hard to wrap your brain around it, but it does work!
Picture
The ratio I used on the left was approxiimatly one-third crimson to two-thirds green.  I added white to show the final flesh tone.  The sample on the right was about a fifty-fifty mix.  You can lighten or darken the color with burnt umber, hookers green, prussian blue etc.   I like the vibrancy.

You might want to give it a try!

I can't believe that it's already December, but the decorations are up and the parties have already started!  Here are pictures of our Illustrator's Table December meeting. We did a cookie exchange and got a lot of new recipes!

Looking down the table in the opposite direction.  This year, was a theme of silver and red.

Here is just a sampling of the cookies that everyone brought!  We couldn't fit all of them on the buffet.  They were all amazing!

Here are the artists at the table listening and giving feedback on art and information shared. ( L-R Curtis Taylor, Linda Silvestri, Bob McMahon, Kathy Varie, Paul Burrows, Dan Hanna, Mary-Jo Murphy, Suzy Block, and Kat McDonough.  Not pictured Jodi Bonassi, Christy Botkin Reeves, and Gail Buschman.)

I received a surprise gift from all the members.  Everyone contributed and gave me a generous gift card to Amazon!  The bag I'm holding has paper plates, bowls, napkins, and toilet paper! :0)  Payback for some of the things I supply for the meetings!  Ha!  Funny and practical!   I love this group of talented and amazing artist friends!  (In this pictures L-R Mary-Jo Murphy, Suzy Block, Kat McDonough, Carol Heyer, Curtis Taylor,  and Linda Silvestri.

I like to use a paper pallet for my acrylics. They can be pretty expensive in the pad form. So i just use inexpensive freezer paper. It comes in wide rolls. I paper clip to a large piece of cardboard so it doesn't curl up and I have the perfect inexpensive pallet for my paint!
